So it's no secret Lily is tiny...or will be tiny...or that her Enat was tiny.
It's in her genetic makeup and the first year and a half (or two?) years she spent in ET also had an impact on her growth.
I'm not worried about her being tiny. I just want to make sure that she grows and develops the way her little body needs to.
When we brought her home, she had little legs so skinny that the width around her ankle was the same as the width around her tiny little thigh.
She cried if I even tried to tickle her, because there was no padding on that little body!
Add to that "food issues"when she came home, and it makes it more difficult to put weight on her. But lately she has been such a little porker! A few months after coming home we finally started seeing chub on her thighs and she had a round little bottom. We worked and worked for months to get her from 16 pounds to 20 pounds. It seemed like foreverrrrrrr.
Over the past 2 months she started getting cranky in the mornings and needing a morning nap.
I started crossing my fingers she was having her first ever growth spurt.
Then she started looking a little chubbier. I measured her and she was up to 32" (she was 27.5 when she came home).
Well, when I was at the Y yesterday I ran into the locker room to weigh her and she weighed....get this....23.5 lbs!!!!! That's HUGE compared to her being 20.1 in July. HUGE!!!!!!
I know there are other parents out there to tiny little Ethiopians, so here's a summary of the growth we've had:
(HOME) 9/9 16.9lb 27.5 in
9/30 17.4lb 28.8in
11/19 18.7lb
1/11 18.9lb 29.3in
7/21 20.1lb 31 in
11/11 31.5in
12/26 23.5lb 32in
Here's hoping this little spurt will last a while and good luck to all of the other parents out there with little ones who are celebrating for every ounce their children put on!
